Benzer Pharmacy, ScriptDrop Partner for Innovative Medication Delivery Service

Benzer Pharmacy is partnering with ScriptDrop, a mobile courier application for delivering medications to patients, in an effort to reduce costs and improve adherence rates, the company announced in a press release.

Benzer Pharmacy is a chain of independent retail pharmacies, with 82 owned and 34 franchise stores. 

Mail order deliveries are important for reaching patients who might otherwise fail to pick up their prescriptions from the pharmacy. The new deal will connect member pharmacists to an integrated network of prescription delivery couriers for all mail order deliveries. The service can help independent pharmacies maintain connections with patients while offering a convenient customer experience, according to the press release.  

In a statement, company spokesperson Nicholas Potts said that ScriptDrop embodies “the first medication delivery program [of its kind] to integrate directly into the pharmacist’s existing workflow…reducing [incidences] of medication abandonment through innovation at the pharmacy.” 

According to its website, ScriptDrop partners with couriers across the United States to provide technology that offers drivers the opportunity for prescription delivery. Couriers pick up from the pharmacy at pre-established service windows Mondays through Fridays and perform same-day delivery to local patients. Live reporting also provides real-time chain of custody tracking of the prescription through delivery status updates and digital signatures.

“By partnering with ScriptDrop for in-workflow prescription delivery, we are working to make the process more efficient for our member pharmacists, while promoting a seamless delivery solution for patients,” Meghann Chilcott, chief technology and marketing officer for Benzer Pharmacy, said in a statement.

Potts noted that the partnership provides a “mutually rewarding framework,” in that ScriptDrop will be able to expand its reach to “even more patients by offering a safe and accessible way” to get the medications they need.

For patients who may want to interact with the pharmacist in person, Benzer Pharmacy also recently partnered with Uber Health in another initiative to offer safe, affordable, and efficient transportation options.
