The National Community Pharmacists Association (NCPA) is holding the first of three pharmacy ownership workshops for 2011 in Atlanta, February 4 to February 6.
The workshop, held at the Westin Atlanta Airport and sponsored by McKesson, is geared towards pharmacists who want to purchase an existing store or open a new one.
Current pharmacy owners can also brush up on important management skills with sessions on subjects such as:
• Creating a successful pharmacy business plan
• Planning for successful growth
• Understanding the loan-approval process
• Determining your pharmacy’s financing needs
• Assessing technology needs for the pharmacy
• How to market your pharmacy practice
Pharmacists will receive 19.25 hours of continuing education credits for attending the pharmacy ownership workshop.
“For many practicing pharmacists and pharmacy students looking into pharmacy ownership, their unfamiliarity with the process often prevents them from taking the plunge,” said Robert Greenwood, RPh, NCPA president, and a pharmacy owner in Waterloo, Iowa.
NCPA’s other pharmacy ownership workshops will be held in Buffalo, N.Y., from May 20 to May 22, and in Minneapolis, from August 19 to August 21.
To register, call 1-800-544-7447, ext. 2670, or visit www.ncpanet.org/index.php/ownership-workshop. Registration includes 2 nights lodging, 5 meals, tuition, and continuing education processing.
