The American Society of Health-System Pharmacists (ASHP) will begin offering more than 20 hours annually of continuing pharmacy education (CPE) courses through an online subscription service.
PharmacyTechCE.org is designed to help pharmacy technicians across all pharmacy settings to find relevant CPE courses that meet state or recertification requirements. Individual subscriptions are $60 per year.
“ASHP is making this investment in quality education and professional development for pharmacy technicians because we believe that well-trained pharmacy technicians can help us advance pharmacy practice and improve quality for all patients in all healthcare settings,” said Paul W. Abramowitz, ASHP CEO, PharmD, FASHP.
Subscriptions to the service will be available to both employers and pharmacy technicians. CPE courses will be available in podcast, CE monograph, and on-demand formats. Topics will include automation, sterile compounding, medication and patient safety, pharmacy operations, pharmacy law, professional practice, and quality improvement. Web seminars on various topics will also be scheduled.
