Not unexpectedly, in May Drug Topics readers were drawn to stories written by their peers, as five of the top 10 stories were opinion pieces. With a promotional assist from The Cynical Pharmacist, Kim Ankenbruck’s blog “A dose of pharmacy truth: Report from the front lines” was our most-read story in May.
As interesting as the opinions expressed in Ankenbruck’s piece were your responses to them. “Pharmacists respond: Kim, you are not alone” was the second most read story last month.
The month’s No. 3 story, “Recollections from a marked pharmacist,” was Kelly Howard’s moving piece detailing how one employer methodically forced her out of a job after labeling her disgruntled. Unfortunately, she described painful experiences that are familiar to most pharmacists.
Our readers were also intrigued by “Pharmacist allegedly steals 5,000 oxycodone pills.” It’s the story of a Pennsylvania hospital pharmacist arraigned on charges she stole nearly 5,000 oxycodone pills by replacing them with Tylenol.
Across the country, pharmacists were closely following the labor dispute between Kaiser Permanente Southern California and the 1,400 pharmacists represented by the Guild for Professional Pharmacists. As such, “Pharmacists eyeing strike against Kaiser Permanente” was one of the most read stories in May.
Three other opinion pieces were among the next five top-read stories:
