The website compiled the list by analyzing pharmacists' salaries, the employment concentration of pharmacists, and the cost-of-living in 394 cities. The list was dominated by cities in the South. Gadsden reached the top of the list because it has the seventh highest median salary at $134,530 and the second lowest cost-of-living.

“This all translates into an excellent foundation for pharmacists to hang their shingle. With its southern charm, access to natural trails in the Noccalula Falls Park, and fishing tournaments at Coosa Landing, Gadsden offers prospective pharmacists ample opportunity for relaxation and fun after work,” the website said.

Other cities on the list are:

Rochester, MN.  Rochester was cited for median salary of $132,920 and proximity to the renowned Mayo Clinic. “Pharmacists looking to resettle or practice here can enjoy 85 miles of trails for biking and hiking, in addition to the various cultural and culinary attractions in the city,” the website said.

 

#3. Greenville, NC. Greenville was recognized for it median salary, $133,100, and low cost-of-living. “This southern city has a lot of amenities to offer prospective pharmacists: Go-kart racing, strawberry picking, fishing, agritourism, and golfing, to name a few,” the website said.

#4. Anderson, SC. According to the website, Anderson, SC. has the highest concentration of pharmacists of any city on the list. “Pharmacists who practice here will be in good company as there are 260 other peers,” the website said. “After hours, there are a host of nature and outdoor activities on Lake Hartwell and a host of other historical and cultural activities.” Median pharmacist salary in Anderson is $125,220.

#5. Cape Girardeau, MO. and Jackson, MO.  These two cities were recognized for low cost-of-living, high median salary, $128,580, and parks and amenities. “At a cost of living index of 92, [a pharmacist’s] dollar can be stretched a long way,” the website said.

St. Joseph, MO., was sixth, Dothan, AL. was seventh, Huntington, WV. /Ashland, KY. was eighth, Madera-Chowchilla, CA. was ninth, and Brownsville-Harlingen, TX. was tenth on the list.
