Susan Winckler, R.Ph., Esq., has resigned as VP for policy and communications and staff counsel at APhA to join the FDA as director of policy communication, a newly created position. Her resignation will be effective Sept. 16. Winckler joined APhA in 1993. During her tenure she helped establish the HRSA Pharmacy Services Support Center at APhA, expanding the association’s advocacy work and extending its public relations efforts to include training pharmacist practitioners to talk with the media. APhA issued a statement that said, “This is a great opportunity for Susan, and although we will miss her, her staff team is strong and will continue in APhA’s tradition of aggressive advocacy and quality communications.” APhA is currently interviewing candidates for Winckler‘s position. In the interim, Kristina Lunner will serve as acting VP for policy and communications.
