DesignRx and Columbia expand access to progesterone gel for uninsured.
Drug company Columbia Laboratories and DesignRx specialty pharmacy have announced a joint program to make the Crinone 8% progesterone gel fertility drug more accessible to patients without insurance or those whose insurance will not cover the medication. As a result of the agreement, Crinone 8% will be the only branded vaginal progesterone drug on the DesignRx formulary and the pharmacy has pledged to actively promote use of the drug to its patients at the point of sale and to physicians. DesignRx is a network of 26 specialty pharmacies. The companies did not specify how they would make the drug more accessible, but Columbia has stated that it expects to double its cash sales at DesignRx.
