Recent studies on dry eye disease examined the efficacy of Vitamin D, platelet-rich plasma as a treatment option, and associations with certain systemic medications.

Dry eye is a common condition that poses a significant economic burden to both patients and society. However, research into the prevalence of the condition has provided uncertain data, with some estimates putting it at around 8% in the United States.1 Symptoms of dry eye include redness, watery eyes, blurred vision and sensitivity to light. It can lead to eye infection and other more serious complications, such as eye damage and decreased quality of life.2 Recent studies on dry eye have examined the efficacy of Vitamin D, platelet-rich plasma as a treatment option, and associations with certain systemic medications.
