The cholesterol-fighting drug simvastatin, the generic equivalent of Zocor, will be added to the list of drugs included in Anthem Blue Cross and Blue Shield's GenericSelect pharmacy program. Simvastatin is the third lipid-lowering generic drug available to Anthem Blue Cross and Blue Shield members and will allow eligible members to receive up to four months of medication for free as an incentive to switch to simvastatin from brand-name statins that include Zocor, Crestor, Lescol, Vytorin, and Anthem's preferred brand drug, Lipitor.
