United Drugs, an independent pharmacy cooperative, has announced the appointment of Bruce A. Semingson, R.Ph., FACA, as its new CEO. Formerly VP of managed care, Semingson is one of United Drugs' founding members and serves on the board of advisers to Community Care Rx. He is also on the professional practice committee of the Academy of Managed Care Pharmacy. "We couldn't be in more capable hands," said Gary Glisson, R.Ph., United Drugs' chairman of the board. "Bruce has not only developed our managed care division to become the leader in the industry, but, simply put, his knowledge of independent pharmacy and the challenges we all face is second to none."
