Pharmacists around the world, on Thursday, Oct. 2, are expected to tweet about the things they do to help patients, communities, and the healthcare industry.
Using the hashtag #Pharmacist, members of 37 pharmacy organizations are expected to participate in the second annual #Pharmacist tweet-a-thon.
“Last year, we saw tweets from all over the world describing the impact that pharmacists have on their patients’ everyday lives. From preventing potentially adverse reactions, to teaching newly diagnosed diabetic patients how to use their glucose monitor, to administering 40 flu shots in three hours–last year’s stories were diverse and inspiring,” read a statement released by the National Community Pharmacists Association (NCPA). “Pharmacists in different practice settings not only fill prescriptions, they counsel patients, consult with physicians, lower healthcare costs, and help patients live healthier lifestyles.”
The national organizations participating in the tweet-a-thon include the American Association of Colleges of Pharmacy, the American College of Apothecaries, the American Pharmacists Association, the American Society of Consultant Pharmacists, the National Association of Chain Drug Stores, the National Alliance of State Pharmacy Associations, and NCPA.
