Pfizer to sell consumer healthcare businesses to J&J
Pfizer Inc. has reached an agreement to sell its Pfizer Consumer Healthcare business to Johnson & Johnson for $16.6 billion in cash. Pfizer's worldwide market-leading brands include Listerine oral care products, Nicorette smoking cessation treatments, Lubriderm, Visine, Neosporin, Sudafed, Zantac, and Benadryl. J&J will also acquire the OTC switch rights to Zyrtec (Pfizer's once-a-day, nonsedating prescription antihistamine) upon patent expiration.
