Mission Pharmacal Co. is introducing prescription Citracal Prenatal + DHA to its line of calcium citrate supplements and prenatal vitamins. The prenatal pack contains a daily complement of prescription-strength vitamins and minerals in a tablet, along with a 250-mg capsule of Martek DH, a plant-derived essential omega-3 fatty acid. The company claims the product improves the nutritional status of women prior to conception, throughout pregnancy, and for both lactating and nonlactating mothers in the postnatal period. San Diego-based Santarus Inc., (858) 314-5700, has been given FDA approval for Zegerid (omeprazole/sodium bicarbonate) Capsules, in 20- and 40-mg strengths. Zegerid is indicated for short-term treatment of active duodenal ulcer; treatment of symptoms associated with gastroesophageal reflux disease; short-term treatment and maintenance of erosive esophagitis; and, in 40-mg strength, short-term treatment of benign gastric ulcers. Zegerid was approved earlier in powder form in both 20 and 40 mg.

CV Therapeutics, Palo Alto, Calif., (650) 384-8500, is now shipping Ranexa (ranolazine extended-release tablets), a partial fatty acid oxidation (pFOX) inhibitor for treatment of chronic angina. Ranexa was approved in 500-mg strength earlier this year. The drug prolongs the QT interval and should be used to treat patients who have not shown adequate response to other antianginal drugs.

Büji-Block, used as a pre-contact protective lotion, helps inhibit the absorption of the toxic oil urushiol and stem any allergic reaction. It also contains an SPF 20 UVA/UVB sunscreen. Büji-Wash, on the other hand, is an exfoliating cleanser that washes away urushiol after exposure or after any symptoms appear, relieving itching and irritation.
