NDCHealth has offered pharmacists some tips for using its E1 system to check for Medicare Part D eligibility. NDC said the best way to ensure a match is to enter the Medicare Part A/B identification card number in the cardholder ID field exactly as it appears on the card. If that ID number is not available, the next best thing is to enter the person’s nine-digit Social Security number (SSN) without the dashes in the cardholder ID field. If that information is lacking, enter the zip code, gender, first name, last name, and birth date. R.Ph.s should also be sure to enter the person’s birth name, such as James instead of Jim.
