NACDS has sent a letter to CMS' Center for Medicaid & State Operations urging a delay of a requirement that tamper-proof pads be used for all Medicaid prescriptions, which was enacted as part of the U.S. Troop Readiness, Veterans' Care, Katrina Recovery, and Iraq Accountability Appropriations Act of 2007. NACDS said prescribers and pharmacists cannot be ready for such a drastic change by the requirement's commencement on Oct. 1, leaving them in the "untenable position of not being able to fill the prescriptions" of Medicaid beneficiaries.
