NABP is now offering on-line applications for its Verified-Accredited Wholesale Distributors (VAWD) and Verified Internet Pharmacy Practice Sites (VIPPS) programs. Currently, 161 wholesale distributors are VAWD accredited. The VAWD program provides NABP-backed assurance that the wholesale distribution facility operates legitimately, is validly licensed in good standing, and is employing security and best practices for safely distributing prescription drugs from manufacturers to pharmacies and other institutions. The VIPPS program accredits on-line pharmacies that are appropriately licensed, are legitimately operating via the Internet, and that have successfully completed a rigorous review and inspection. There are 13 VIPPS-accredited pharmacy sites. The VAWD and VIPPS applications can be accessed on the NABP Web site.
