Medicine Shoppe International has agreed in principle to seek NABP accreditation for its pharmacies nationwide that supply durable medical equipment, prosthetics, orthotics, and supplies (DMEPOS). NABP executive director Carmen Catizone told Drug Topics that NABP will visit Medicine Shoppe's corporate headquarters to get a geographical and statistically significant sample of its stores. "We will visit that sample and extrapolate the results across the whole chain based on that and our visits and interviews with corporate. We will make unannounced visits to stores to see that whatever policies are in place at the corporate level are in place in individual stores," he said. NAPB is currently looking at how many of the 1,000 franchisees are seeking accreditation.
