Advancis Pharmaceutical Corp. has been given the go-ahead to market its antibiotic Keflex (cephalexin) in two new strengths-333-mg and 750-mg capsules. The company said this will give healthcare providers an easier way to prescribe a total daily dose of 1,500 mg. Keflex is approved by the FDA for the treatment of infections caused by susceptible strains of gram-positive and gram-negative aerobes. The first-generation cephalosporin is also available in 250- and 500-mg capsules as well as powder for oral suspension.
