Fire temporarily closes UIC College of Pharmacy
Due to a fire that broke out Saturday morning in the University of Illinois at Chicago College of Pharmacy, the Office of the Dean and the College are temporarily closed. Students and faculty were informed that classes are cancelled until Monday, January 28. The College of Pharmacy building is closed. A 2-11 alarm and a Level 2 Hazardous Materials response were reportedly called. Although smoke at first appeared in more than one place, the fire was most likely contained to the fourth floor. No one was injured in the fire, but the fire caused extensive damage to the facility. The fire was at a building which contains both a laboratory and a pharmacy. There were only about 20 people in the building at the time of the blaze, but all got out safely. No one will be granted access to the building due to safety concerns. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
