TaQuina Warren, PharmD, owner of Focus Pharmacy in Smyrna, Delaware, explored the pharmacy profession from her perspective as an independent owner.
TaQuina Warren, PharmD, owner of Focus Pharmacy in Smyrna, Delaware, always had a passion to work in the health care industry. Since she first wanted to be an OBGYN in high school, pharmacy was not initially on her radar. But after landing a job in pharmacy before she even started college, Warren knew which career path was for her.
“Once I attended pharmacy school [at] Howard, I realized I had a passion for diabetes education. When I graduated from pharmacy school in 2004, I mentioned to my husband, ‘Maybe one day, I'll own my own pharmacy.’ Of course, 16 years later is when it actually came to fruition. But I am so proud and so happy to now be the owner of an independent pharmacy,” said Warren.
As a part of Drug Topics’ continuous coverage of American Pharmacists Month, Warren joined us to discuss her perspective as a pharmacists, the rewards and challenges she faces, and the true meaning of what being a community pharmacist really is.
