CMS issues a final rule specifying how providers can appeal when their Medicare billing privileges are denied or revoked.
Medicare providers and durable medical equipment suppliers whose Medicare billing privileges have been denied or revoked can appeal the decision based on a final rule the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services has just issued. The final rule also allows Medicare fee-for-service contractors to revoke Medicare billing privileges when a provider submits a claim that could not have been furnished to a beneficiary. CMS said these regulations take effect on Aug. 26.
