DEA is designating six pharmaceutical products as exempt anabolic steroids under the Controlled Substances Act. The reason is that these six products are similar to other preparations that have already been exempted. The six products include various dosages of esterified estrogens and methyltestosterone from Interpharm Inc., Lannett Co., and ANDAPharm LLC. DEA published this interim rule in the Sept. 1 Federal Register. Stating that the rule is effective as of Sept. 1, the FDA nevertheless said it seeks comments, which should reach the agency by Oct. 31.
