CMS has come out with a final rule on changes to the hospital inpatient prospective payment system for 2008. Published in the Aug. 22 Federal Register, the 1,047-page document is notable for including a section dealing with not paying hospitals if Medicare patients come down with certain hospital-acquired infections.
