CMS has selected Bioscrip as the first national vendor for the new Competitive Acquisition Program (CAP) for certain Medicare Part B drugs and biologicals beginning July 1. Participating physicians will acquire the drugs from Bioscrip and administer them to beneficiaries instead of purchasing them from distributors and being reimbursed by Medicare. Under the CAP program, the vendor is responsible for billing Medicare, collecting any coinsurance, and other administrative duties. Physicians will still be paid for administering the drugs. More CAP vendors will be named later. The Web site is at http://www.cms.hhs.gov/CompetitiveAcquisforBios/.
