The Blue Cross & Blue Shield Association's governmentwide Service Benefit Plan, also known as the Federal Employee Program (FEP), has awarded administration of its retail pharmacy program and clinical services program to Caremark. Additionally, Medco was awarded the mail-service prescription drug program, including specialty pharmacy, effective Jan. 1, 2008.
The Blue Cross & Blue Shield Association's governmentwide Service Benefit Plan, also known as the Federal Employee Program (FEP), has awarded administration of its retail pharmacy program and clinical services program to Caremark. Additionally, Medco was awarded the mail-service prescription drug program, including specialty pharmacy, effective Jan. 1, 2008. Caremark will retain sole responsibility for the retail pharmacy program that is available to both standard and basic option FEP members. Under this program, standard and basic option members can choose from more than 60,000 preferred pharmacies in the Caremark network. Medco will administer the mail-service prescription drug program, available only to FEP's standard option members. The mail-order pharmacy filled approximately 220,000 Rxs per week in the first quarter of 2007.
