The Board of Pharmacy Specialties (BPS) is looking for board-certified pharmacists to serve on each of its six specialty councils. The members will serve from Jan. 1, 2014, to Dec. 31, 2016.
Nomination materials need to be received by May 6, 2013, which the council members will review during their business meetings from May through July. The BPS Board of Directors will confirm appointments in October.
The six councils, which have two open positions each, are: Ambulatory Care Pharmacy, Nuclear Pharmacy, Nutrition Support Pharmacy, Oncology Pharmacy, Pharmacotherapy, and Psychiatric Pharmacy.
Specialty council members recommend standards and other requirements for certification and recertification of pharmacists in the specialty to the BPS, and they develop and administer the exams for those certifications. Members also evaluate the qualifications of individual pharmacists and submit to the BPS the names of those pharmacists recommended for certification or recertification.

BPS is an autonomous division of the American Pharmacists Association. Its mission is to improve patient care and increase awareness of the need for BPS board-certified pharmacists as integral members of multidisciplinary healthcare teams.
