Former U.S. President Bill Clinton will deliver the keynote address at the National Community Pharmacists Association (NCPA) in October, NCPA announced April 19.

The event will be held at the Walt Disney World Swan and Dolphin Resort in Orlando, Fla. from Oct. 12 to 16.

"NCPA's convention offers independent community pharmacists an edge," NCPA President Donnie Calhoun, RPh, a pharmacy owner in Anniston, Ala., said in a press release. "Now more than ever, community pharmacies must find a way to differentiate themselves from the competition. The programming and networking at this meeting offer pharmacists the path to stand out in their communities and the path to a successful future."

After Clinton left office, he founded the William J. Clinton Foundation to improve global health. The foundation focuses on helping provide people with HIV/AIDS access to life-saving drugs.

"The meeting's theme - Meet. Learn. Succeed. - succinctly captures why this is the premiere conference to attend," NCPA stated. "Peer-to-peer networking, the latest products and services, and 1st class CE are just some of the reasons why community pharmacists come to this meeting-and keep coming back."

Those interested in attending the NCPA meeting can qualify for an "early bird" discount by registering by June 30.
