The American Society of Health-System Pharmacists (ASHP) announced that pharmacy residency programs have increased by 77% and pharmacy technician programs by 131% over the last seven years.
Approximately 2,000 pharmacy residency and technician training programs are undergoing the accreditation process, according to ASHP, the only accreditor of pharmacy residency and technician training programs in the United States.
“This is such an exciting milestone in our 51 years of accrediting residency programs, as it shows the breadth and depth of our efforts in this area,” said ASHP CEO Paul W. Abramowitz, PharmD, ScD (Hon.), FASHP. “The continued growth of both residency and technician training programs are critical for the preparation of our future workforce.”
