Sales in the antacid liquid/powders category decreased during the 52 weeks ending Jan. 28, 2001, according to Information Resources Inc., Chicago.
Total dollar sales reached $184 million, down 5%. Drugstore sales were $66 million, down 6.9%. Food store sales came to $61 million, a decline of 3.5%. Mass-merchandiser sales declined 4.4%, to $56 million.
Total unit sales in the antacids category decreased across all three outlets by 8.5%, to 36 million. Drugstore unit sales declined 10.8%, to 12 million. Food stores garnered unit sales of 12 million, a drop of 8.4%. Mass-merchandiser unit sales dove 6.4%, to 12 million.
