Affected Products Sold at Walgreens, CVS, Walmart, and Kroger Stores.
Bayer is voluntarily recalling a number of products under the Alka-Seltzer Plus brand because of labeling errors. The ingredient list on the front sticker on the carton may not match the actual product in the carton, which could lead to consumers taking a product to which they may have allergies or may have a contraindication.
The recall is being conducted with the knowledge of the FDA.
According to a statement from Bayer, the recalled products were sold only in the United States at Walmart, CVS, Walgreens and Kroger (including Dillons Food Stores, Fred Meyer, Fry’s Food Stores, Ralphs, King Soopers and Smith’s Food and Drug) after February 9, 2018.
The easiest way to identify the products that are included in this recall is to look at the Bayer logo in the lower left-hand front corner of the carton. If the Bayer logo is on an orange or green background, the product is included in the recall.
Bayer is notifying retailers electronically and by certified mail and is arranging for return of all recalled products. Consumers who purchased the recalled products should stop using them. Consumers who have any adverse reactions or other problems should be told to contact their physician or healthcare provider.
The products affected by the recall include: Alka-Seltzer Plus Cold, Alka-Seltzer Plus Cold & Cough Formula Liquid Gels; Alka-Seltzer Plus Cold & Cough Formula Liquid; Alka-Seltzer Plus Cold & Flu; Alka-Seltzer Plus Multi-Symptom Cold & Flu (Day Formula); Alka-Seltzer Plus Multi-Symptom Cold & Flu (Night Formula); Alka-Seltzer Plus Night Cold & Flu Formula Liquid Gels; Alka-Seltzer Plus Severe Cough, Mucus & Congestion Liquid Gels; Alka-Seltzer Plus Cold & Cough Formula Effervescent Tablets; Alka-Seltzer Plus Severe Cold & Flu Formula Effervescent Tablets; Alka-Seltzer Plus Day & Night Cold & Flu Formula Liquid Gels (Day Formula); and Alka-Seltzer Plus Day & Night Cold & Flu Formula Liquid Gels (Night Formula).
