The tools are part of the National Addictions Vigilance Intervention and Prevention Program (NAVIPPRO), a system designed to shed more light on substance-abuse issues and prescription painkiller addictions.

Infant death leads to changes at Las Vegas hospital
September 3rd 2007A miscalculation in a prescription for Zinc slipped through the hands of three pharmacists and several nurses at a Las Vegas hospital and led to the death of a premature baby girl last fall. The error prompted the hospital to implement several changes to its policy and procedures for filling TPNs.
Access to community pharmacies under Part D
September 3rd 2007OIG plans to continue their investigation into differences between the retail and chain pharmacy participation in Part D. They intend to examine reimbursements to independent and chain pharmacies for specific drug products and to compare the terms of the contracts offered to chains and independent pharmacies.
