Money isn’t the reason you got into pharmacy, but that doesn’t mean that it’s not important.
To help you gauge whether or not you are being compensated fairly, we took a look at the recently published Bureau of Labor Statistics data on pharmacy salaries. The most recent data looks at 2017, tracking average salaries across the United States. An interesting part of that breakdown is cities with the highest salaries. Those cities aren’t necessarily where you might expect—sure, there are quite a few in California and Texas, but a city in Utah with a population of only 82,000 came as surprise (at least to us). And the big cities with the bright lights are missing! Where are Chicago, New York, and LA?
Overall, you may be interested to know, the average salary of the pharmacist in 2017 was $121,710—but even number 25 on our list came well over that number.
We’re not claiming that these cities are the best to live in, or that your money will buy you the same amount of stuff in both Bakersfield, CA, and Madison, WI, but we think this is an interesting look at what pharmacists are being paid across the country. Were you lucky enough to make the list? If not, are you willing to move somewhere on this list?
